E-book Only Member’s Package

Pre-Production

Manuscript Evaluation: Editorial Staff assesses manuscript, then provides sample editing and recommendations.


File Evaluation: Book Designer assesses Manuscript File (if provided by Author), then makes minor corrections or provides recommendations for major corrections.


Book Design: Book designer completes interior Bookblock Layout, formatting, and creation of a Master File, Distilled Print PDF File, and E-book Platform files for each e‑edition. Author reviews Master File, specifies corrections, and may add up to 25 minor edits.


Cover Design: Creative Director creates Cover Draft, then completes up to two sets of revisions or one alternate draft and revision. Author provides preferences, reviews draft(s), requests revision(s), and approves. Author may provide copyright‑cleared graphics.


Blurb Editorial: Editorial staff provides feedback and editing for Author’s Book Blurb, and 20-word-max Tagline.


Copyright Registration: FIG will register the book’s copyright and be responsible for the registration fees and archived copies. Author will retain copyright to the Book’s content.


Author Shorts: Not required, but strongly recommended, Author may provide up to three Short Stories or Essays to be used for promotional purposes.

Publication

E-book Editions: Multiple E-book editions are formatted for popular e-tailers and devices (including, but not limited to, Nook, Kindle, and Read-only PDF). FIG may continually add E-book editions in new formats to exploit this rapidly expanding market.


Author Pricing InputAuthor may reasonably adjust FIG’s recommended cover price and wholesale discount.

Distribution

E-tailer Listing: E-book editions are listed on major e-tailers (including but not limited to Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com), including e-tailers based in foreign countries.


Administration: FIG oversees retailer and e-tailer fulfillment, cataloging, listing, ordering, tracking, billing, collection, and Royalty distribution.

Promotion

FIG Promotion: FIG continually expands promotion of its websites, authors, and books using proprietary techniques including but not limited to the following:

Creation of account and listing of books and promotional short stories with major free and paid author/reader sites (including but not limited to Author’s Den, Writer’s Café, The Coalition of Independent Authors and Publishers, Writer’s Net, and many others).


Creation of one unique article for each book, which usually includes a written interview with the Author) and submission of that article to a minimum of one hundred (100) topic-relevant article directories. Author may provide his or her own article.


SEO (search engine optimization) efforts for the author’s pages and the book listing page, including submission to 100 web directories.


Creation and distribution of a Press Release with a major press-release distributor.


Registration and file preparation for Amazon’s “Search Inside” program.


Registration with Google Books.


FIG Website: The Author will be promoted on a minimum of eleven (11) pages of the FIG website. If Author provides three promotional stories/essays, a minimum of fifteen (15) pages will appear. Four (4) pages are password-enabled for the Author to post and edit content at any time. While Author is solely responsible for password-enabled content, FIG reserves the right to remove postings it deems objectionable for any reason. Author is solely responsible for ensuring that password-enabled content does not violate fair-use copyright standards for material owned by other parties. The pages include:

Home Page: Book will appear for a minimum of 30 days in the What’s New! Section of the Home Page.

Books Page: Each book will appear with other authors’ books on the Books Page.

Author Page: Author will appear on a dedicated page with short blurb about the Author and optional photo/logo, links to his or her other sections and personal sites (e.g., Author’s own website, social media, etc.), a listing with cover shot and tagline for all of Author’s Fresh Ink Group books, and a listing of Author’s promotional short stories/essays with image and tagline. This page will be updated periodically by FIG at no cost.

Author’s Books Page + Title Pages + Read Pages: The Books Page includes an unlimited listing for all of Author’s Fresh Ink Group books, including cover image and tagline. Each book links to individual Title Pages with detailed description and ordering links, and a Read the First Chapter page. These pages will be updated periodically by FIG at no cost.

Author’s Stories/Essays Page + Promo Content Pages: The Stories/Essays Page includes an unlimited listing for all of Author’s promotional shorts. Each will include an image and tagline with link on its own page displaying the material along with a book promo and purchasing links. This content will be initially set up by FIG at no cost.

My Info: Linked from the Author Page, this page includes a bio/blurb, optional image, and other info about the Author. This page is set up and periodically updated by FIG at no cost.

My Thoughts: Linked from the Author Page, this page is password‑enabled for the Author to post, edit, and delete comments blog-style at any time.

Your Thoughts: Linked from the Author Page, this page is password‑enabled for Author to post selected fan-mail and other material at any time.

My Reviews: Linked from the Author Page, this page is password‑enabled for Author to post book reviews and other endorsements of Author’s work at any time. FIG will occasionally add positive reviews it has solicited, but will alert Author.

My News: Linked from the Author Page, this page is password‑enabled for the Author to post news at any time. Examples include both personal and literary announcements, appearance schedules, upcoming signings/readings, and more.

Membership Announcement: FIG e-mails at least one of the Author’s “free sendable” stories, essays, or excerpts (if provided) to its private membership list with an announcement, book promo, and direct links to the book’s e-tailer pages. FIG may at any time include Author’s Book(s) in additional member e-mail promotions.


Marketing ConsultationAuthor is entitled to a minimum of 30 minutes of consultation with FIG’s Marketing Director, who welcomes suggestions at any time, and who may offer ideas and programs to Author.

Reporting and Payment

Royalty Reporting: Royalty Reports are available at least monthly to reflect the most recently available distributor reporting.


Royalty Rates: Author receives 100% of payments received by FIG from wholesalers and retailers until Author recoups the entire subsidy price of the Member’s Package (excluding add-ons). Thereafter, Author will receive royalty payments equal to 75% of all monies received by FIG from book sales. FIG will continue to be responsible for all costs related to administration, reporting, payment, catalog-updating, new listings, ordering, tracking, billing, collection, and distribution.


Royalty Payment: Royalties are paid within 30 days after the end of a reporting period in which FIG receives payment from distributors and/or retailers. However, payment is made annually if the total is less than $25, and quarterly if it is less than $100. Royalties totaling $100 or more are paid monthly.

Cost

Author agrees to contribute $999 toward the set-up cost of the Member’s package, with 50%due after the Manuscript Evaluation, and the balance due before submission of the finished product.
